Emerging from the pandemic, For Our Ancestors is Amihan’s debut album-in-the-making written and produced by herself in its entirety. The project fuses R&B & hip hop flows over melodies of electric guitar, ukulele and traditional Filipinx instruments.

For the first time LIVE, Amihan will be showcasing the progress she has made in conceptualizing, writing and producing the project which highlights her journey growing up in the City, discovering her family’s migration story, and traveling to the homeland of her ancestors.

Enjoy a summer afternoon concert and picnic with family and friends in a beautiful community garden.

The show is a fundraiser for the indigenous Aeta communities that Amihan visited in 2018 during her first trip to the Philippines. The Aeta, the first & oldest inhabitants of the Philippine archipelago, have been facing on-going threats of displacement by foreign corporations. Their ancestral domains are also threatened by militarization and use of their land by the U.S. for war exercises.

ABOUT FOR OUR ANCESTORS

For Our Ancestors will be 10-12 tracks long infusing elements of r&b and hip-hop with traditional Filipinx instruments and language. It will feature spoken word, singing, and rapping over traditional Filipinx musical elements and Bay Area beats.

For My Ancestors is not solely a music project, but a cultural offering to our ancestors in the form of melodic prayer and frequency.
