INABEL NGA INDAYON 2021

Are you a descendant of a Manong or Manang who came to the US in the first half of the 1900s? Do you want to learn about Ilocano weaving and honor their memory? Want to connect the dots between Ilocano weaving, our immigration history, and the collective future? Curious to try traditional Filipino weaving?

Inabel nga Indayon, which translates to "Ilocano Woven Cradle", offers its intro workshop at Kapwa Gardens (967 Mission Street) on Saturday, May 22 and Saturday, June 12 from 1:00-4:00 PM.

Get the 411 on the project from Lead Artist Rachel Lozada, a Bay Area community-based, first-generation Filipina/Ilocana weaver. Manang/Tita Rachel will cover some basics on Ilocano weaving, help you try your hand on tabletop looms, and if you're up to the challenge, practice on an individual mini weaving kit which you can take home with you. All are welcome regardless of age and weaving skills. Space is limited so please come on time. Sliding scale donation of $1-$8, no one will be turned away for lack of funds.
